What is a workflow?#

The official definition of "workflow" from the Oxford Dictionary is "the sequence of industrial, administrative, or other processes through which a piece of work passes from initiation to completion".

Simply put, a workflow is a sequence of tasks through which work goes from start to finish. It could be an administrative process such as approving leave, an assessment process involving the collection and assessment of risk data, a response procedure for responding to a cyber-security incident, and so on. All work involves some type of workflow.

In Workflow86 terminology, a workflow is comprised of โžก components linked together with โžก connections. Each component performs a task, and then passes on data via a connection to other components.
